Gayathri Raguram (born 22 April ) is an Indian politician for All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam political party and a former choreographer and actress who has worked in the South Indian film industry.
Personal life
Gayathri was born in a Tamil BrahminIyer family as the second daughter to dance choreographers Raghuram and Girija Raghuram. Her elder sister Suja is a dancer, who has also previously worked as an actress. She is the great-granddaughter of director Krishnaswami Subrahmanyam. Her mother, Girija comes from a family of choreographers, which includes Brinda and Kala.
Drunk and driving case
Gayathri was booked for a drunk and driving case in November by Abhiramapuram Traffic Control Police. Police reported that she left a party from a hotel in MRC Nagar organized for film personalities and was on her way home when she was intercepted by the police, she admitted that she had drunk alcohol when she was asked to blow into the breathing analyzer. A police officer later drove her to her house in Adyar and confiscated her car. A case under Section of the Motor Vehicles Act was filed on her and she was also fined for the incident. Gayathri however claimed it was fake news. This incident drew strong criticism from BJP party cadres.
On 26 October , Raguram was permanently suspended from social media platform Twitter for violating Twitter's rules after posting a series of tweets relating to the controversy over VCK leader Thol. Thirumavalavan's statement on Manusmriti.

Actors, directors, producers, and technicians including Rajnikanth, K Balachander, and Radhikaa filed into Raghuram’s residence on Saturday to pay their respects to a veteran in the field, the man who had choreographed for more than 1, movies, and directed 10 films as well. One of his closest friends in the industry, Kamal Haasan,who was away from the city on Saturday, will arrive on Sunday to pay his respects.
Raghuram debuted as a Bharatanatyam performer in along with Tamil Nadu chief minister and former actor J Jayalalithaa, and worked with most of the top actors and banners in his career as a choreographer.
Trained in Kathakali before he moved on to learn Bharatanatyam from the late K J Sarasa, Raghuram is most remembered for his work with friend Kamal worked on several films such as the classic ‘Salangai Oli’ ( ) and ‘Ek DuujeKeLiye’ ( ).
It was during a duet performance with Jayalalithaa (also a student of Sarasa ) that Raghuram was asked to assist dance director A K Chopra for an MGR movie in Once he started he started out on his own in , Raghuram composed songs for Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam andHindi movies.

Raghuram (1 May – 30 November ) was an Indian dance choreographer, who choreographed more than a thousand songs in Indian films across various languages. He was born into a Tamil BrahminIyer family and is the grandson of actor Krishnaswami Subrahmanyam.
Career
Raghuram began learning Kathakali, aged five from prominent dance expert Guru Gopinath, and then in , he switched to learning Bharata Natyam under dancer K. J. Sarasa. He learned dance along with J Jayalalithaa, with the pair both having their arangetram (debut) in He debut in movies as a child actor in a movie Padikkadha Medhai (). It was during a duet performance with Jayalalithaa that Raghuram was asked to assist dance director A. K. Chopra for an M. G. Ramachandran movie. He then started out on his own in and went on to choreograph Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi movies. He debuted choreographer in the Telugu film Kanne Vayasu. He has worked on several films with Kamal Haasan, early on in his career, choreographing celebrated work in Sagara Sangamam () about a classical dancer, and in the romantic Hindi film Ek Duuje Ke Liye ().
Raghuram also went on the direct the Bengali film, Bhagya Debata, starring Mithun Chakraborty and Rajinikanth. He then featured alongside Kamal Haasan in Dasavathaaram () as Appa Rao, a comedy cop. In , he began work on a film on friendship starring Abbas, Vineeth and his daughter Suja Raghuram, but the film was later shelved. In , an event named Amma Appa Guru Deivam was held to felicitate Raghuram's fiftieth year in the film industry. The event, heralded a success by the media, featured dance performances from actors and speeches from other film personalities.
