Emma Kathleen Hepburn Ferrer was born in Morges, Switzerland and grew up in Florence, Italy where her conscience became replete with a visceral exposure to Medieval and Renaissance iconography. As a young painter, Ferrer also spent extensive time in Spain where she became drawn to the works of Francisco de Zurbaràn, and Symbolist painter Julìo Romero de Torres. Among her other strong influences are Goya, Manet, Giorgio de Chirico, Edvard Munch, Arnold Böcklin, and Félix Vallotton.

Early in her artistic career Ferrer pursued a classical education in drawing and painting. One of the youngest students ever accepted into the academy, at 18 years of age Ferrer enrolled in the Advanced Painting program at the Florence Academy of Art, a traditional atelier where she would be imbued in the techniques, methodologies, and theories of the great masters. There, Ferrer undertook exhaustive studies from of the live figure, studying human anatomy in depth as well as becoming fluent in classical materials in drawing, painting, and sculpture. Upon finishing school, Ferrer moved to New York where she would work in contemporary art galleries as a curator and international artist liaison, as well as become the administrative director of a Democratic Super PAC specializing in the sale of contemporary art as a means of political fundraising. During this time, Ferrer also gathered experience working in production and art direction for music videos and short films. Ultimately, she would return to live and work, devoting herself to her art practice, at her home in Camaiore, Italy. 

Ferrer received her MFA from Central Saint Martins in London in Throughout the course of her education and professional years she has been mentored by, studied under, and worked for artists such as Vincent Desiderio, Golucho, Will Cotton, Cynthia Talmadge, Ivan Theimer, and Emanuele Giannelli.     The first images I have of her are, interestingly enough, when she was quite young," Emma Ferrer says of her paternal grandmother, Audrey Hepburn. "I remember seeing a photo of her jumping on a trampoline—I believe this was before I understood that she was famous. But I remember thinking that she looked like a friend I wish I could have had."

    Of course, Audrey Hepburn—or simply Audrey, as she will forever be known—has always been a luminous presence: She was a brilliant actress, a timeless style icon, and a tireless crusader for the world's underprivileged children as an International Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF. She was also a devoted mother who put aside her career at its peak to raise her two sons, Sean Ferrer, whose father was Audrey's first husband, the actor Mel Ferrer, and Luca Dotti, from her second marriage (to the Italian psychiatrist Andrea Dotti).

    One thing that Audrey never had the chance to do, though, was enjoy the experience of being a grandmother. In late , she fell ill during a UNICEF trip to Somalia and died a few months later, in January , of a rare form of abdominal cancer.

    Emma Kathleen Hepburn Ferrer, Audrey's first grandchild, was born in Switzerland in May of the following year to Sean and his then wife, Leila. Now 20, Emma is the eldest of Sean's three children and spent most of her adolescence in and around Florence, Italy, where Sean, who runs an agency that deals with intellectual property and is also a filmmaker and keeper of the Audrey flame, lives outside the city.     Early life

    Emma Kathleen Hepburn Ferrer was born in June , in Morges, Switzerland, the daughter of producer Sean Hepburn Ferrer and Leila Flannigan. She is the granddaughter of actors Audrey Hepburn and Mel Ferrer. Her parents divorced when she was 6 years old. She has two younger half-siblings. Ferrer spent her childhood in Los Angeles and Florence, and briefly attended Crossroads School for Arts & Sciences. She previously studied ballet. She earned a degree from Italy's Florence Academy of Art.

    Career

    Ferrer made her magazine modeling debut on the cover of Harper's Bazaar September issue. Ferrer was signed by Storm Management. She additionally appeared in a number of editorial publications and campaigns, including Dior, Japanese luxury skincare brand Kosé, Givenchy, and Tiffany & Co. She played a supporting role in the feature film The Man in the Attic, a psychological thriller directed by Constantine Venetopoulos, released in Ferrer and her father both contributed to Audrey (), a documentary about her grandmother directed by Helena Coan.
