Surgery is one of the advanced stage of treating patients. It demands experience. Experience comes with age. But you are going to meet the youngest surgeon in the world. Akrit Jaswai, at 7 successfully conducted a surgery. He is well known genius in the medical industry. His surgery video went viral on internet and so as our attention.

Akrit Jaswai, one of the wonder kids in India. He walked and talked as little as a 10 month baby. If that didn’t surprise you, he started writing and reading at 2. Well, he was just getting started. At 5, he was reading Shakespeare writings. He was always a curious kid to learn something. He was visiting hospitals since 6 year old. He had experience in handling the patient firsthand. So he was well known among his local place.

Once, an 8 year old girl suffered from fire injury as a baby. Her parents couldn’t afford for surgery and as time passed, her fingers were fused together. Since it affects her daily life, her parents requested Akrit to help them with her fingers. After signing a waiver bill, he agreed to conduct the surgery for free. The little girl’s parents felt grateful and prepared for the surgery. All necessary equipment were bought. On November 19, 2000, Akrit Jaswai conducted this operation and released her fused fingers. Akrit’ s parents recorded the whole incident and uploaded online. That went viral all over the world. Thus brought the name youngest surgeon in the world.

Since the video made Akrit an internet sensation, Opera Winfrey interviewed him in their show. He expressed his interest to find a cure for cancer. After that interview, his name reached all corners of the world. Following that, Imperial College of London, called him to discuss about various topics including his medical theories. His incredible mental capacity and memory enables him to remember the tiniest details about everything ranging from politics to population statistics to trivia, causing the local media to dub him ‘Google boy’. He was catapulted into fame after appearing on KBC with Amitabh Bachchan.

2. Akrit Jaswal

Although he is an adult now, the medical feats Akrit Jaswal performed as a child would be difficult for most adult doctors. He started reading Shakespeare at the age of five, and performed his first surgery at the tender age of seven, treating burns on the fingers of his neighbours’ eight year old daughter. This gave him international recognition, and he later appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show. He was accepted into Chandigarh college at the age of twelve, and after graduation, has dedicated his efforts into finding a cure for cancer.

3. Priyanshi Somani

This 16 year old mental magician from Surat is the only participant who had 100% accuracy in Addition, Multiplication, Square Root in all five Mental Calculation World Cups that she participated in. She won the 2010 Mental Calculation World Cup despite being the youngest participant. She has also been part of a research project from Stanford University.

I love anything and everything that has speed. When a math problem is in front of you, many processes go on in your mind. From the eye seeing the problem, the brain analyzing it and trying to solve it in the least possible time, and finally putting it on the paper or screen. Challenging the speed of this cycle is what fascinates me. Making a new record is the target, every time.

Priyanshi Somani is an Indian child prodigy best known for her mental calculation abilities. She was born in Surat, India where she resides to this day. Somani has abandoned participating in mental calculation tournaments since the 2010s and is now studying theater.

Somani's parents first discovered her calculating abilities when she was just 6 years old. They encouraged her to pursue her mathematical talent with Priyanshi's brother who also took interest in the subject.

 Her big success happened in 2010 when she won the 2010 Mental Calculation World Cup.  At that time she was only 11 years old and competing with mathematicians from 16 countries.  Somani managed to solve all of her tasks in just 6 minutes 28 seconds. She did it faster than any of the other 37 participants.

Apart from winning five trophies, Priyanshi was awarded two medals and a cash award of 500 euros. After her success at the Mental Calculation World Cup, Somani was selected as the Indian ambassador for World Math Day 2011.  On January 3, 2012 Priyanshi  proved her mental capabilities by setting a new world record for the fastest calculation of square roots.
