Shantanu aka Swayam quits Dil Dostii Dance; show to end in Jan
They are the country’s biggest teen heartthrobs who have danced their way into the hearts of their fans. Meet Shantanu Maheshwari and Vrushika Mehta aka Swayam and Sharon from Channel V’s Dil Dosti Dance. As is the norm for these much loved telly couples to have a nickname given to them by their fans, these two are better known as SwaRon.
What makes Swayam and Sharon’s chemistry a hit?
Shantanu: The fact that we are poles apart and have a different approach towards romance. When Swayam fell in love with Sharon, it was one-sided — she being a diva and he a nerd. He was determined to win her over and that’s how we became SwaRon.
Vrushika: Swayam-Sharon’s chemistry is a hit because of the innocent Swayam and bold Sharon. As they say, opposites attract, and that’s what happened with SwaRon.
Shantanu: It’s great to know that we are an inspiration. All the appreciation is overwhelming.
Vrushika: It feels awesome to be known as a youth icon. Just at the age of 20 to be given this status, it feels so awesome. I really hope to always live up to this status.
Scenes that are your favourite?
Shantanu: The one where I had performed as Shammi Kapoor, that was a lot of fun. Among romantic scenes, the proposal one.
Vrushika: It would first be the official proposal scene, which did finally bring Swayam and Sharon together. And then the chai date scene, which is my favourite.
Guilty indulgences?
Shantanu: Watching lots of movies, splurging on shoes and eating a lot of vegetarian food.
Vrushika: Junk food, cartoons, masala Maggi and lots and lots of chocolates.
What annoys you?
Shantanu: People who don’t even know who I am but still ask for a photograph, just because it makes a good DP.
Vrushika: Fake people and traffic jams
