Betty Blowtorch was an all-female American hard rock band from Hollywood, CA, formed in , by former members of the band Butt Trumpet. The original lineup was Bianca Butthole (Bianca Halstead) on vocals/bass, Sharon Needles on guitar/vocals, Blare N. Bitch on lead guitar, and Judy Molish on drums. Needles and Molish left the group, and Jennifer Finch of L7 later joined. Betty Blowtorch played a mix of hard rock, sleaze rock, and hair metal with a dash of snotty punk. They released only one album proper, Are You Man Enough? (), but it was one hell of an album! Sadly, on December 15, , Bianca Halstead was killed in a car crash in New Orleans, and, with her, the band died, too. Like Paula Pierce of the late great garage band, The Pandoras, Halstead was taken way too soon. In , Last Call, a rarities collection featuring outtakes, demos, interviews and live performances. In addition, that same year, Halstead and her band were immortalized in Antonia Scarpas cool documentary film, Betty Blowtorch And Her Amazing True Life Adventures.
Are You Man Enough? was loud, explicit, melodic as all get out, and driven by big monster riffs. These were hard rock chicks singing about sex, drugs and rock n roll, just like hard rock dudes did. The albums opening track, Hell On Wheels, warns: Watch out for us, baby / Were Hell on wheels. Later, Bianca declares: Were a bunch of horny fxxx-ing bitches / And we got something to say to you / Are you listening?!Yes, I am, and so should you! Love/Hate, my favorite track, is definitely the best song Courtney Love never wrote. Youd think this song was by Hole if I didnt tell you it wasnt. Biancas pissed off, and torn: You didnt have to marry me, marry me, marry me / Why did you marry me if you never loved me / Liar, liar, I really loved you / I love you, love you, love you / I hate love!Rock My World is a cool song thats

PUNK GLOBE: Thanks for agreeing to do this interview
Sharon Needles: It's an honor getting interviewed for Punk Globe. I’ve been reading the magazine since I was a teenager, so it's kind of a big deal for me! :)
PUNK GLOBE: Give us some background on yourself? Tell us about your youth and when you felt the urge to play guitar?
Sharon Needles: As a youth, I loved to play air guitar with a tennis racket rocking out to KISS records. By my teen years, I got into punk rock and I knew that my fingers were quite dexterous and could probably pick up the bass guitar with ease. I chose the bass guitar first, because listening to punk bands like Sex Pistols and Ramones through the late 70’s and early 80’s, I figured it would be an easy instrument to learn and I wanted to play right away.
PUNK GLOBE: Tell us about your very first guitar and your first band?
Sharon Needles: The first guitar I bought was a Yamaha BB bass guitar. The first band I played in was with my friend Larry Lugz from Riotgun. We were called Flesh Weapon. I met Larry through a mutual friend and he came over to my house and asked me to play something. I played the only song I knew, Louie Louie. Right away he said "You're in!" From there, Larry taught me how to cheat my way around on the bass guitar and I was hooked.
PUNK GLOBE: Tell us how you got involved in the music scene in Hollywood?
Sharon Needles: I moved from Huntington Beach to Hollywood in A friend of mine worked at Hollywood Boo
