Stephen and Ayesha Curry have been married for more than a decade, but the couple's love story dates back to when they were teenagers.

The pair met at church in Charlotte, North Carolina, when Stephen was just 15 and Ayesha was 14.

In a biography about his life titled The Miraculous Riseof Steph Curry, Stephen's sister recalled Ayesha making an impression on her brother. "She would find him after church, barely say two words, and, like, walk away," Sydel recalled in the book. "That's how she would flirt with him in a way. He clearly liked it. It left an impression."

It would be several more years before Ayesha and Stephen's conversations evolved. In 2008, they reconnected after bumping into each other in Los Angeles while Stephen was in town for the ESPYs. "I mean, it was friend vibes … until I dodged the first kiss," Ayesha later told the New York Post.

Once Ayesha realized that her former childhood pal was interested in something more than friendship, everything fell into place. The couple tied the knot on July 30, 2011, and welcomed their first child, daughter Riley, the following year.

Since then, their family has grown by three more with the arrival of daughter Ryan in 2015, son Canon in 2018 and son Caius in 2024.

2003: Stephen and Ayesha meet

Stephen and Ayesha first crossed paths when they were 15 and 14 years old. "We were just kids," Ayesha previously told PEOPLE. "He was the cute boy at church that all of the girls were obsessed with, so I made a generalization that maybe he wasn't for me."

"I don't remember the exact first day I saw her," Stephen countered, joking, "There was no wind blowing in her face with a backlight."

Ayesha Curry moved to North Carolina as a teenager and pursued an acting career out of high school. After marrying NBA player Stephen Curry in 2011, she channeled her love for cooking into a blog and YouTube channel. Tapped to host her own program on the Food Network in 2016, she has also branched out by authoring a cookbook, opening multiple restaurants and launching a cookware line.

Early Life

Ayesha Disa Alexander was born on March 23, 1989, in Ontario, Canada, and grew up in the Toronto suburb of Markham. Her father, a musician, took her name from the Stevie Wonder song "Isn't She Lovely," about the legendary singer's daughter.

Curry was inspired by kitchen activity at a young age; with her mom running a salon out of the basement, Curry would watch her babysitter prepare Trinidadian curry and roti, and then bring the food down to customers. She was also influenced by her surrounding neighborhood, with scents of Indian, Ethiopian, Greek and Chinese food wafting from every corner.

Curry was 14 years old when her family uprooted from Canada to resettle in North Carolina.

Acting Career

With her stunning looks, Curry moved to Los Angeles after high school to pursue a career in Hollywood. She earned guest spots on several TV shows, including the Miley Cyrus-headlined Hannah Montana, and landed a starring role on a drama called Whittaker Bay, which endured for eight episodes in 2008. Curry abandoned her career after an appearance on the sitcom Good Luck Charlie in 2010, though she later surfaced in an episode of the sports-themed Ballers, as herself.
