About me

  • I am a medical doctor graduated also from master of public health and master
of medical education programs in Tehran, Iran. Having interests in clinical
neuroscience and epidemiology, I registered as a doctoral student at
Karolinska Institutet, department of neurobiology, care sciences and society
(NVS), Stockholm, Sweden in October I defended my PhD thesis in June
and started a postdoctoral research career since July at the
division of Clinical Geriatrics, NVS department, Karolinska Institutet. My
main research field is neurodegenerative disorders namely Parkinson’s
disease (PD), dementia with Lewy body (DLB) and Alzheimer’s disease (AD).

Research

  • The main focus of my current research projects is on neuroepidemiology of
Parkinson’s disease (PD) and Alzheimer’s disease (AD), two major
neurodegenerative disorders in the elderly. Multivariate models, discriminant
and longitudinal data analysis, and other biostatistical procedures are used
on large databases to explore the factors affecting disease occurrence,
progression, quality of life and cognitive decline in neurodegenerative
disorders such as PD, DLB and AD. Specifically in PD, I am also interested in
new ideas and approaches towards a more efficient management strategy.
Currently, I am registered as a postdoctoral researcher at the division of
clinical geriatrics, NVS department working under the supervision of
Professor Maria Eriksdotter, Professor Johan Lökk and Professor Gunilla
Sandborgh Englund. I also work as researcher in Swedish Dementia Registry
(SveDem). Main projects: • Longitudinal trend of cognitive

    Abstract

    Objective

Bacterial gastroenteritis is a significant public health concern, capable of causing severe infections. Among the various pathogens involved, those belonging to the Enterobacteriaceae family are the most frequently isolated and associated with gastrointestinal disorders. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of common diarrheagenic Enterobacteriaceae in Iran over the past two decades, from to

    Methods

A comprehensive systematic search was conducted across multiple databases, including EMBASE, HINARI, MEDLINE, PubMed, Google Scholar, and the Cochrane Library. The focus was on observational published studies reporting the prevalence of diarrheagenic Enterobacteriaceae in Iran during and The criteria did not restrict patient demographics such as age, gender, health conditions, or occupation. This meta-analysis employed a 95% confidence interval (CI) for analysis. Evidence of heterogeneity was determined using an I² value greater than 50%. To explore potential sources of heterogeneity, subgroup analysis and meta-regression analysis were performed. Statistical analyses were executed using R version along with the meta package. A p-value less than was considered statistically significant.

    Results

Out of 3, papers reviewed, 56 studies met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed. The overall pooled prevalence of diarrheagenic Enterobacteriaceae species from to was % (95% CI: –). Subgroup analysis revealed Shigella spp. had the highest prevalence at % (95% CI: –; I²=99%), followed by diarrheagenic Escherichia coli at % (95% CI: –; I²=97%), Salmonella spp. at % (95% CI: –; I²=99%), and Yersinia spp. at % (95% CI: ; I²=94%). Prevalence trends showed Shigella spp. increasing from 4% (95% CI: –) in – to

    Preparing For Your Surf Lesson

We get asked a lot of questions here at Corky Carroll&#;s Surf School. How do you turtle roll? What kind of surfboard should I ride? Are my feet positioned correctly? Where is the bathroom? Why is it raining? Can I have a donut? The list goes on. But by far the most asked question is: Who is Corky Carroll?

    Well, we&#;re glad you asked…

Corky Carroll and Our Surf School

Our surf school is the result of one man&#;s awesome idea and another&#;s amazing career. It all happened in when local resident Rick Walker approached professional surf icon Corky Carroll with a business proposition: opening the first surf school in Huntington Beach.

Read How Rick Walker Came Up With His Surf School Idea and Why It&#;s Not Named After Him

The school was named after Corky, whose prolific surfing career has made him one of the most recognizable and accomplished surfers of all-time.

Today, we still use the fundamentals and techniques Corky came up with in our lessons.

So when you&#;re taking a surf lesson from one of our instructors, you&#;re also learning to surf from one of the most iconic surfers of all-time.

Which we think is pretty cool.

That said, the question still stands: Who is Corky Carroll?

Corky Carroll &#; The First Professional Surfer

Fun Fact: Corky Carroll is considered the first professional surfer of all-time.

So it just makes sense that the first surf school in Huntington Beach be named after him. But long before he joined Rick Walker in forming our surf school, Corky was making waves dating all the way back to when he was a little grom.

Here&#;s a brief highlight reel of the Man, the Myth, the (Surf) Legend that is Corky Carroll:

    • His real name is Charles Curtis Carroll. (Corky is his nickname)
    • He won over surf competitions
    • He was the first person paid to surf (and put &#;surfer&#; as his profession on tax returns)
    • He was the first surfer to receive endorsements
    • He was the first surfer to have a production mo
