Dolores Pasternakis Jake's 5th grade school teacher who also dated Charlie. She is played by played by Missi Pylein all of her appearances except for "A Jock Strap in Hell" where she is played by Alicia Witt.

History[]

Miss. Dolores Pasternak was a teacher that suspended Jake for giving her the finger. Charlie began dating her, and she not only lifted the suspension but began giving Jake good grades without properly earning them. Charlie ended up dumping her upon the realization she was mentally ill.

She was not seen until season six, which in the mean time she lost her job and teaching license, had to move into a motel, and her parents disowned her. She was forced to take a job as a stripper, in order to make ends meet. Charlie, Alan, and Jake run into Dolores at a store where Charlie learns everything and feels guilty. Charlie and Alan went to the strip club she worked at and convinced her to live with them until she finds a home, and gave her a job tutoring Jake. Though at first it was working out well, she believed Charlie was an angel sent by God to save her. She becomes a fundamentalist Christian and forces the Harpers and Berta to go to church with her. There she revealed to Charlie they should get married. Charlie dumped her again, causing her to revert, and according to Alan, "stole all the dollars out of the collection plate and started grinding on the minister." When Charlie took marijuana he envisioned several ex-girlfriends, among them Miss Pasternak.

In the Season 9 premiere, Miss Pasternak was present at Charlie's funeral.

    Missi Pyle (born November 16, 1972) is an American actress and singer. She has appeared in a number of films, including Galaxy Quest (1999), Josie and the Pussycats (2001), Bringing Down the House (2003), Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story (2004), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005), Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay (2008), The Artist (2011), Gone Girl (2014), Captain Fantastic (2016), and Ma (2019).

    Pyle has guest starred on many television shows, including Heroes, Mad About You, Boston Legal, Frasier, The Sarah Silverman Program, and 2 Broke Girls. She started her film career with a minor role in As Good as It Gets, starring Helen Hunt and Jack Nicholson. After her breakout role in Galaxy Quest, she had supporting roles in Bringing Down the House (for which she and Queen Latifah were nominated for an MTV Movie Award for Best Fight), Josie and the Pussycats, Home Alone 4, Exposed, Big Fish, Along Came Polly, Soul Plane, Stormbreaker, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. She was the female lead in BachelorMan. She appears in Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story. She had a brief appearance in 50 First Dates and starred in A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song.

    Judith Lynn Pasternak (1955- ) was born in Buffalo, NY, and has lived in the area all her life. She attended Buffalo public schools and has a Master's degree in Sociology from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She has taught sociology courses at the UB, and has led or participated in various writers' workshops over the past 15 years. She also has been a facilitator for support groups for people suffering from depression and other mental health issues including bereavement. This background especially qualifies her to write a book about the afterlife. Her lifelong dream has been to write a novel. She was never able to realize this dream until recently due to commitments to work, her aging parents, and her own medical issues. The Third Mile A Journey into the Afterlife began in the early hours of the morning of Dec. 26, 2012, approximately 96 hours after the end of the world was supposed to occur, which of course, it didn't. That's when, in Ms. Pasternak's words, "she got drunk and got pregnant." A familiar story? No. Ms. Pasternak was 57 years old and had undergone a total hysterectomy several years prior. As she relates to friends, what happened was this: Not a habitual drinker, she attended a Christmas dinner with some new friends her first year in a new neighborhood. In Ms. Pasternak's words, "After the 4th, or was it the 20th? viewing of A Christmas Story, I was exhausted and had one too many. I like these films, but 10 hours is too much.
